Supporting Elements - Management

Management: After the planning, policy, and design work has been done, the food and agriculture system of any given project needs to be managed somehow to ensure that the food and agricultural program is realized. Some examples of different farm/garden management models include:
  • Family-run farm
  • Cooperative farm
  • Teaching/learning farm
  • Incubator farm
  • Strata-run gardens
  • Neighbourhood or non-profit run gardens
  • Local government run gardens
Another consideration for the management of the food and agriculture program for any given project is how to protect the land in perpetuity for agricultural purposes. Examples of farmland protection include:
  • Special land-use designations.
  • Covenants registered on title.
  • Putting agricultural lands in a trust to be managed by a suitable organization
